CAD · printable parts for the DIY rig

3D printed parts.

Every STL we print for the DIY 5-inch rig and the Archer shell. Slicer settings, material guidance, and the reasoning for each geometric choice. All sources live in cad/ as STL + STEP + FreeCAD source.

§ 03Material notes

MaterialUseWhy
PETGBrackets, shells, camera mountImpact-tough, dim stable at 60°C, glues with superglue
TPU 95AProp guards, vibration isolatorsCrash-absorbent, flexible; saves motor mounts
ABSAvoidStinky, warps; PETG wins everywhere we'd use ABS
PLAOnly for non-structural gate mockup dowelsMelts in sun, brittle. OK indoors.
Nylon (PA-CF)Overkill for this applicationMore money + time than PETG wins in drone impact

§ 04Orientation & supports

Gate mockup calibration: paint the printed gate corners the exact HSV target color we use in sim (saturated mid-green, like a VQ1 highlighted gate). This lets the detector fine-tune on real imagery that matches the sim's visual style while we capture real-flight dynamics.
